It is a magnetic system* which prevents the build up of bacteria, dead yeasts, sugars and moulds sticking to the inside of a beer delivery line from the cellar. The magnetic system keeps these substances in suspension which enables the normal weekly line cleaning routine to be changed to once every fourth week -
*Magnetic Technology has advanced considerably recently and there is now a new generation of magnets which we proved under Laboratory conditions work well and the subsequent ‘on the job’ trials proved conclusively that these new magnets did work very well and would definitely save / make a pub and or any bar owners more money and therefore profits.
** figures quoted exclude the cost of chemicals and labour
You maybe a Landlord or a Pub owner reading this and thinking to yourself – this is rubbish – I’ve heard all this stuff about magnets before – they don’t work!
WRONG!! Please don’t go away; stay with me and find out how our Beer-mag units will work for you and make you or save you money. Some magnetic products did not work that’s for sure and a few unfortunates were ‘conned’ which has we know created a lot of skepticism about ‘magnets’ in the pub trade,
There is a guarantee that Beer-mag will work for you and if not then we will refund the cost less a small amount to wear and tear. There is a time frame for refunds of course depending on a number of factors. i.e. after the units have been installed for nine to twelve months we have to believe they are working and saving money.
Here’s a big benefit - if you are the Landlord / Tenant and you’ve paid for the units yourself and you move on to another place you can take the units with you. We can help you do this for an ‘at cost charge’ alternatively you can sell them on to the new incoming person and buy a new Beer-mag installation in your new place.
The use of magnets to prevent the build up of bacteria, sugars, yeasts, moulds etc in beer lines is not new. Ten years ago the Brewers Research Foundation International did some trial work to establish whether magnetically charged beer in a delivery line from a cellar would prevent the lines becoming contaminated with substances inherent in beer and sticking to the inside of the lines.
The tests were done under proper scientific scrutiny, measuring the levels of bacteria in the incoming beer and what effect the magnets had on changing any of the microbial activity.
No yeast was found to stick in the beer line fitted with magnets and this confirmed that the magnets do modify the suspended particles giving them less tendency to become entrapped on the surface of the plastic tubing and thus reducing the loading on cleaning and dispense time.
One of the trial kegs was heavily contaminated with micrococcus bacteria. These live bacteria passed through the trial magnetised line without attaching themselves to the inside of the tubing whereas there was evidence of attachment in the control (non-magnetised) tubing.
The picture below illustrate how the beer lines lie between the two magnets in the units. Fitting them is quite easy but the magnets are powerful so some care has to be exercised to ensure they don’t end up being stuck to another metal object nearby.

Full instructions are always given with all orders.
We like every customer to have a Beer-mag trial before ‘buying’ so they are sure they are happy with the units and that they will give them the savings and benefits they are looking for.
This is a FREE service covering a trial period of four to five weeks only.
We prefer to come and set up a trial up ourselves so we can explain all the benefits and facts face to face. However we can’t do that nationally – we are in Southampton and only a small company; with fuel at today’s prices we cannot afford to drive too many miles with no cost recovery. We will therefore, as a special offer, if you are genuinely interested and want a trial with Beer-mags and feel it best for us to do the installation, only charge you the fuel cost for coming to your premises and setting up the trial.
As part of our customer back up policy arrange an annual review visit for a small fixed charge when we will check all the installed Beer-mag units and where necessary replace any damaged units at half price. We will also deal with any other queries you might have.
The taste of the beer was unaffected by the magnetic process.
This was a limited trial but did conclude that there was strong evidence that there were benefits to be gained with magnets by changing the clean weekly routine to a longer period which could be as much as four weeks or longer.
This is a mere summary of the report as I cannot for obvious reasons publish it here in full, however if you call me (Tony Clarke) on 023 8023 6848 I will forward you a hard copy.
We have at Fuel Dynamics since those trials were done developed a different and improved design of beer line magnet using the latest advanced type of neodymium magnets The financial money saving benefits our customers have achieved using these up to date modern units make purchase of Beer-mag units a highly cost effective investment for all landlords unconstrained by the disciplines of the big managed chain operators with their rule books etc.
Good cellar management is still vital. The magnets will enable you to clean every four weeks but it is important that you monitor the quality of the beer particularly in the first few months because in some instances it is necessary to clean lines twice with a purge cleaner.
Each beer line will usually require two Beer-mag units, one in the cellar (larger 22mm unit) and one under the bar close to the pump (smaller 12mm unit). This ensures the whole line remains fully magnetised at all times. Where the real ale line goes direct to a hand pump via a 22mm line then two of the larger units will be needed.
Decide how many lines you would like to trial and check the number of units you might need then give us a call on 023 8023 6848. We will then discuss your requirements with you and arrange to send the units to you by post with full instructions as to how to use them.
For our security we will have to take your credit card number and obtain an authorization code from the card company but we will not cash it. We’ll only do that for obvious reasons.
Once you have decided you like the units and want to keep them and need to order more then we’ll invoice you in the usual way when we supply your order if full.
There are two sizes of Beer-mag unit, a large one and a smaller one.
The large one is for 22 mm lines, mostly the lines in the cellar from the kegs and the smaller 12 mm units are for fitting to the micro bore lines under the bar.
Each line will usually need two units one 22mm in the cellar and one 12mm under the bar. Exception will be where a 22m goes all the way from the keg to the pump at the bar. Two 22mm units will then be required.
